The Winter Solstice marks the darkest day of the year and the return to longer days. To celebrate, join local naturalist Hollis Clark for a Sun-themed sunrise hike in Joshua Tree National Park! Sunrise is the absolute best time of day to spot local wildlife, capture incredible photos, and to celebrate the ultimate life-giver, our sun. Through this lens we will discuss the ways desert life is adapted to capture the sun’s energy while coping with it’s dangers. This hike meet 45 minutes before sunrise to maximize our views of sunrise from the trail rather than the parking lot!

Cost: $40 per person

Meeting Location: Boy Scout Trailhead*

What you need to bring:

• Water

• Snacks

• Weather appropriate clothing (usually warm layers with sun/wind protection this time of year!)

• Sturdy footwear

• Daypack (Rentals available for $10)

• Lots of questions!

* Hikes are rain or shine and only cancel for dangerous conditions. Meeting location may change depending on weather.
